MGC GT

The MGC was unveiled in 1967 at the Earls Court Motor Show. Its 2912cc straight six developed 145bhp, which made it the most powerful MG sports car of its time. Sadly it was to be short lived; production ended only two years later in 1969 with less than 9000 cars built.

This MGC came off the production line at Abingdon on the 5th November 1968 and was dispatched to the dealer, Appleyards of Bradford. Finished in Snowberry White with standard disc wheels, the car spent the first year of its life as the dealers’ demonstrator vehicle. So it was not registered for some 16 months after it left the Abingdon factory. Its original registration mark was OKU 820H, reflecting its date of first registration in March 1970. Information on how the car spent most of the next 50 years is scarce, except that it appears to have had some restoration work in the autumn of 1990.
